Growing up...

Her mother was the queen of Ireland and her father the prince of the fairies. They were good friends and she used to play among the fae when she was a child. When it was clear that she needed a husband her old friend was more than happy to exist. He cared about her and she cared about him. But, his heart would always belong to his long lost beloved. It didn't mean he didn't love her it was just a different type of love and the two made a good team.

More than that he gave her a child an heir to pass on the Irish throne to their daughter Aeslin. She was a curious child always getting into mischief like her mother before her. She loved to wander and make new discoveries.

She was promised to marry the next king of France as most marriages of the time--it was arranged by her parents and she had no say in it. The princess didn't care however she was too young to really think about what it meant.

She went to France to met her betrothed excited to have a new place to explore and new people to met. She was fond of the boy whom she was to wed and the two of them decided to play a game of hide and seek within the woods outside the castle. They managed to give their guards the slip as they took off.

Getting lost...

Somehow the two of them got separated from each other leaving her to wander by herself. She was unsure where her friend had gotten off to and she tried to find him. It began to rain and the ground under her shifted and she tumbled falling down a hill. During the fall she bumped her head and was knocked out. She was found by a nice couple who couldn't have children. They took pity on the small girl and took her home to nurse her wounds.

They lived in the woods and keep to themselves. They were pagans and tended to avoid others lest they were burned for being heretics. When the girl woke up she didn't remember who she was or where she came from. They had their guesses because of her clothes but fear of going to the castle and the desire to have a child led them to a decision.

A Lie and a New Home...

They told her that she was there daughter and had gotten lost picking berries in the woods. She had been hurt but her father had found her and brought her home. She believed them not remembering anything different. The castle was in an uproar over the missing princess and her father was so mad he said he would go to war if she wasn't found and found soon.

Try as they might they could find no trace of her. They managed to get her father to not declare war but relations between the two nations were never the same after that. Her parents mourned their daughter believing that there was no way she could have survived on her own for that long. If she was alive someone would have come forward to claim the reward.

However, the people that found her wanted no money they just wanted to have a child. And the charming little girl was loved by them and they raised her as if she was their own child. She came to know the woods like the back of her hands. Growing up with magic of her own she was able to do things that made people think she was blessed. They flocked around her and she tried to lead them the best she could to form a new way or life. She hoped to show the world that her kind were not blood thirsty monsters.

A Change of pace...

She might have succeeded if it wasn't for the witch of the woods and her blood priest. He lead the people in the taking of blood from other humans. Worshiping the darkness as some came to call the witch of the woods. He was her voice and gathered people to him. He would do anything in her name and fear of pagans began to spread across the nation.

Many of her kind were killed and even among pagans the blood cult was feared. The man had powers like she did and some said that the two of them were at odds others that he wanted to claim her as his own because like him she was special. She fled from her home to protect those closet to her from falling pray to him.

It was while fleeing that she would become reunited with the prince. The one from her past. The two of them didn't see eye to eye on pagans but she slowly convinced him that not all her kind were bad. The two of them sought out the blood priest together only to be used by him. However, it was also found out that she was the lost Irish princess.

Her father was overjoyed and came right away telling her the truth of who she is and where she came from. She couldn't hate her adopted family because she understood why they did what they did. She was sad by the time she lost and is slowly remembering her childhood and getting to know her family once again.

Her feelings for the prince have begun to surface even though he is now promised to someone else. They are good friends and she sometimes thinks that there is more only time will tell what will be between them.
